The National STEM Honor Society (NSTEM) is looking for strategic and passionate professionals to join our Advisory Council. The Council is responsible for furthering the vision of NSTEM and use their experiences to help increase chapters and our reach. We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds and people of color for a broader perspective to better serve the communities.
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about NSTEM’s mission to inspire innovation and recognize student excellence from K to Career™ in STEM. Advisory Council members’ accomplishments should allow them to attract other well-qualified, high-performing Council Members.
Who Are We?
In our interconnected world, there is an enormous gap between the demand for STEM-trained professionals and the supply of career-ready, STEM-focused students. The National STEM Honor Society believes that STEM is an exciting journey through all grade levels that starts early and lasts a lifetime. NSTEM From the Start™.
The National STEM Honor Society™ (NSTEM™) was founded in response to the growing demand for innovative STEM education, to help fill this gap, providing students from a very young age with opportunities to develop their passion for STEM disciplines, and inspiring them to pursue these subjects as careers and as lifelong interests.
NSTEM Chapters are school-based organizations that enrich the educational experience of all student Chapter members. Chapter members are students who attend that school and join and participate in that Chapter’s activities. Chapters can only be started by a school, and each school has its own unique Chapter and Director (head of school). In addition, each Chapter is led by an Advisor who is often the school’s enthusiastic “STEM Champion” (Chapters cannot be led by a student).
Qualifications:
A successful candidate should be passionate about STEM Education. Ideally, they should have an in-depth experience in STEM Education and solid relationships with numerous STEM Educators, either nationally or regionally. The candidate should share our mission to help as many kids in STEM education across the country as quickly as we can by opening Nationals STEM Honor Society Chapters.
