New Chapter Member Welcome Letter
Dear [Student],
We are thrilled that you have become a member of our National STEM Honor Society (NSTEM) Chapter!
This is an exciting time to be involved in STEM and to encourage you to become future innovators and leaders in STEM disciplines. The world is changing rapidly, and we need to work together to prepare students like you for the challenges you will face on this journey that lies ahead.
Before you become a member with all its privileges and honors, you are a Provisional member. Once you have met the 3 requirements: 1) GPA in STEM classes only, 2) STEM classroom hours and 3) project based enrichment hours, you become a recognized member of the National STEM Honor Society! And you receive this recognition every year!
Here are some items to make the most out of your membership:
- Login: You should have received your student member login information for the NSTEM site; if not, please ask your Advisor to gain access.
- Dashboard: Take a look at the Student Dashboard to help you manage your membership (you must be logged in to see everything – ask your Advisor for the login link to create your account). Make sure that you keep your dashboard up-to-date.
- Merchandise: There is plenty of member only apparel and merchandise available to you with your login information.
- Social Media: follow NSTEM on social media.
- Awards: NSTEM’s Champions of Excellence Awards program provides annual recognition to a number of groups and individuals who uphold our values and commitments to STEM.
- Resources: Access the Resource Library with your login which is full of resources for you!
- Projects, Projects, Projects: Engage in projects that immerse yourself in real-world STEM applications to meet the enrichment activities membership requirement.
- Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA): If your project based enrichment hours (to meet the third requirement for membership) have a community contribution, you may be qualified to also earn the prestigious PVSA accolade.
