My name is Alexandra Sugatan, and I am a first-year Biology major at the University of California, Los Angeles. I attended high school in the Bay Area, where I also served as my high school’s chapter of the National Honor Society’s founder and President for two years.
I am a new intern here at NSTEM, but I am looking forward to acting as a liaison for NSTEM and communities that would greatly benefit from partnering with us. I believe encouraging students to follow STEM career paths will shape a brighter future for our society.
My mom instilled a love for science in me at a very young age. Growing up, she often took me to science museums, zoos, aquariums, and libraries. I excelled in STEM classes because I enjoyed the learning experience; it reminded me of the time I spent with my mom. It wasn’t long before I saw life through the goggles of a scientist. Science was everywhere, and science was everything. I hope students feel the same way while engaging in the course material provided by NSTEM.
