The National STEM Honor Society (NSTEM) aims to foster real change by promoting <\/span><\/i><b><i>I<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nclusion, <\/span><\/i><b><i>D<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">iversity, <\/span><\/i><b><i>E<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">quity, and <\/span><\/i><b><i>A<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ccess<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(<strong>IDEA<\/strong>).\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Because we believe that learning thrives best in a diverse community, and that society benefits from the contributions of a diverse population, the National STEM Honor Society:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recruits school communities with underrepresented and underserved students.<\/li>\n<li>Works to be anti-racist and to remove barriers and layers of disadvantage and injustice to Latinx, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (LBIPOC) communities.<\/li>\n<li>Condemns discriminatory action towards the LGBTQIA+ community and strives to create an open, supportive environment for people of all gender identifications and sexual orientations.<\/li>\n<li>Promotes understanding and respect for people of all religions to have the freedom and comfort to express their faith.<\/li>\n<li>Guarantees equal opportunity for individuals with disabilities outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Amendments.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maintains a library of resources curated to include the work of people of different genders, races, ethnicities, and backgrounds.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Encourages schools and students of all economic backgrounds to participate.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Operates the entire NSTEM organization embracing all facets of IDEA with an international internship focused on <b><i>I<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nclusion, <\/span><\/i><b><i>D<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">iversity, <\/span><\/i><b><i>E<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">quity, and <\/span><\/i><b><i>A<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ccess<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(<strong>IDEA<\/strong>)\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">National STEM Honor Society<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0is committed to serving all students and educators regardless of their race, gender, religion, ethnicity, disability, age, nationality, and sexuality. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a class=\"button no-link-icon\" href=\"https:\/\/nstem.org\/staging\/your-nstem-journey-begins-here\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Your NSTEM Journey Begins Here!<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students of color, girls, Latinx, and LGBTQIA+ have been historically, and continue to be, vastly underserved and underrepresented in STEM professions.
