Students will be able to present their STEM projects as well as ask and answer questions regarding their projects in front of their peers, family members, teachers, and fellow members around the world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This showcase will be open to all <strong>Pre-K\/Elementary, Middle School, and High School NSTEM<sup>TM<\/sup> Chapters as well as Individual Global Members<\/strong>; students also have the opportunity to enter their project to be considered for an award and\/or NSTEM Commitment Certificates! Scroll down for information on important dates and guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Want to participate but not a member? <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nstem.org\/staging\/start-a-chapter#:~:text=National%20STEM%20Honor%20Society%E2%84%A2%20(NSTEM%E2%84%A2)%20Chapters%20can%20only,require%20student%20member%20membership%20fees.\"><strong>Start a Chapter or an Individual Global Membership today!<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:35px\"><strong>Showcase Policies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-projects\"><strong>Projects<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For the 2026 NSTEM PBL Showcase, participants should showcase <strong>existing or planned STEM projects <\/strong>(many of which are most likely in process!)<strong> <\/strong>It would be great if the project can be applicable to a local problem; for example, flooding prevention in New Orleans, hurricane response in Florida, etc.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participants can enter projects as individuals or in a group. There is no limit to the number of participants in one group project, though we recommend that you limit it to 4-5 members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-event-logistics\"><strong>Event Logistics<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The event will be run on two separate dates, March 7, 2026, and March 14, 2026. Students should hold BOTH dates open, but will be able to specify availability once project registration opens.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The event will be run virtually, over Zoom, by NSTEM directors and interns. The Zoom will be recorded and may be distributed on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, etc.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students will be given the ability to present live and the total presentation time has to fall under 5 minutes. <strong>Pre-recorded presentations will not be shown during the live session.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An NSTEM Chapter, Chapter members, and IGMs can submit as many projects as they want.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-eligibility\"><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Projects must be created by members of <strong>an<\/strong> <strong>official NSTEM<sup>TM<\/sup> pre-K\/elementary, middle, or high school Chapter<\/strong> or <strong>Individual Global Member.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chapter Advisors and Individual Global Members must register with the <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/pxhYJF5UUfB2QuYm8\">Chapter\/IGM Registration Form<\/a> (by 1\/30\/26) before registering any project.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participants must register their projects using the <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/vCTFkbb62ZaEWVjEA\">Participant Project Submission Form<\/a> NO LATER THAN 2\/27\/26.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:35px\"><strong>Showcase Guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order for projects to be entered into the showcase, they must adhere to the following guidelines:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-1-chapter-and-individual-global-member-registration\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>Step 1: Chapter and Individual Global Member Registration<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Chapter Advisors and IGMS should register<\/strong> using the <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/pxhYJF5UUfB2QuYm8\">Chapter\/IGM Registration Form<\/a> <strong>by 1\/30\/26<\/strong> in order for one or more of their members to participate in the showcase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-2-project-preparation\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>Step 2: Project Preparation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Required Project Components:&nbsp;<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Abstract (250 words max.) <\/strong><em>This is a short summary of your project. This may be displayed on our website if we decide to feature your project! For examples, see the \u201cHelpful Resources\u201d section at the bottom of this page.&nbsp;<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Presentation materials (5 minutes presentation time max.)<\/strong> <em>You may choose to use a slideshow, virtual poster, or pre-recorded video to explain your project. There are no limitations to slide number or poster size. You must provide a shareable Google Drive link to the material set to <strong>viewable by anyone with the link. This year, no pre-recorded videos will be accepted for the live session, though you may submit it for offline judging.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Recorded elevator pitch (1-2 mins.) <\/strong><em>This is similar to the abstract, but a recorded version. Your elevator pitch should contain a brief introduction, significance, and any other information you feel that is important for understanding the project. These may be featured on our social media pages. Make sure the link is viewable to anyone (you may use any service, such as Google Drive, Youtube, etc.)<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>References. <\/strong><em>Include a list of references (any citation style) you consulted as you worked on your project<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>NSTEM Commitment Certificate Components (Optional):<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Community and Connectivity<\/strong> <em>To earn a Community and Connectivity Commitment Certificate, participants must demonstrate that their project has contributed positively to the community or broader scientific community and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">breaks down communication barriers<\/span> to marginalized communities through outreach efforts<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, &amp; Accessibility <\/strong><em>To earn an Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, &amp; Accessibility Commitment Certificate, participants must address issues related to underrepresented groups, equity, or accessibility in science and demonstrate that their project <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">seeks to empower these communities<\/span><\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Environmental Sustainability <\/strong><em>To earn an Environmental Sustainability Commitment Certificate, participants must develop a project that directly addresses an environmental issue or contributes to sustainable practices, showcasing a clear connection between their research and environmental stewardship.&nbsp;<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Suggested Project Components:&nbsp;<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Problem\/Purpose. <\/strong><em>What is the purpose of your project? What real-world problem are you aiming to solve? Why is it significant?<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hypothesis. <\/strong><em>What is your expected outcome?<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Methodology. <\/strong><em>How did you conduct your project? What materials did you use? If you are submitting a project proposal, what materials and methods do you anticipate will be needed?<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Results. <\/strong><em>What were your results? Analyze your results. Were they what you expected?<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Impact. <\/strong><em>How does your project contribute to combatting a real-world issue?<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Images. <\/strong><em>We highly recommend presenters limit words in the presentation and instead use images, graphs, diagrams, etc. throughout their presentation to make it as engaging as possible.&nbsp;<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-3-register-the-project\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>Step 3: Register the Project<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Submit projects<\/strong> using the <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/vCTFkbb62ZaEWVjEA\">Participant Project Submission Form<\/a> form <strong>NO LATER THAN 2\/27\/26<\/strong>. There will be 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, and verbal commendation awards for each age category. Additionally, projects that have a mentor will be judged in a separate category for middle and high school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:35px\"><strong>NSTEM<sup>TM<\/sup><\/strong> <strong>Commitment Certificates<\/strong>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three founding principles of the National STEM Honor Society are <a href=\"https:\/\/nstem.org\/staging\/commitment-to-idea\/\">Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/nstem.org\/staging\/commitment-to-community-and-connectivity\/\">Community &amp; Connectivity<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/nstem.org\/staging\/nstem-commitment-to-environmental-sustainability\/\">Environmental Sustainability<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This recognition is intended to have your projects be at least in part community-focused.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All projects submitted will be automatically considered for the NSTEM Commitment Certificates. Each commitment certificate aligns with an NSTEM value and will be given if the panel of judges evaluates that a <strong>valuable contribution or impact from the project has been made in the community.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants will be awarded a certificate suitable for framing.\u00a0<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:35px\"><strong>NEW FOR 2026: UN SDG Certificate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of NSTEM&#8217;s commitment to Environmental Sustainability, projects that meet at least one of the 17 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.undp.org\/sustainable-development-goals\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.undp.org\/sustainable-development-goals\">United Nations Sustainable Development Goals<\/a> will be awarded a certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants will be awarded a certificate suitable for framing.\u00a0<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:35px\"><strong>#NSTEMPBL26 &#8211; Social Media Campaign<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of NSTEM\u2019s goals for this showcase is to motivate, inspire, and connect NSTEM members around the world!
